About January of our children’s senior year of High School they seem to decrease in cognitive capability. Some called this a form of senioritis but my husband said this was a gift to parents so that when children graduated parents were happy to see them move on.
As you’re preparing children to leave the nest just a couple of reminders:
- Change is always hard and also always necessary.
- Growth and confidence don’t come from being told that you’re great or having things done for you but from from figuring things out on your own and just hard work.
- Life has a lot of redos. Celebrate the chance to try again.
- No one fails until they stop trying.

My brilliant cousin and her idea for decorating her son’s college dorm.
” When Truman moved into his apartment at college, I surprised him by decorating his wall with a large poster of me. Lucky boy, because it was a dang cute picture. He didn’t find it all that amusing, but I promised him $100 if he kept it up all semester. He texted me this video today. Best $100 I’ve ever spent. “
